Welcome and transfer from the Puerto Maldonado
airport to the city pier. Preparation for the trip on the Madre de Dios river.
Visit to the Puerto Maldonado city market, where you can buy Brazil nuts, aguajes, pacays, coconas, cashew nuts, and star apples, as well as other typical tropical forest fruits and nuts and local handcrafts made with seeds from the Amazon region. This activity can be carried out on arrival or departure from Puerto Maldonado, depending on flight schedules.
Embark on 45-minute trip downriver in outboard motor boat. Along the river one can appreciate caimans (alligators), birds and flowers, etc., native to the region.
Arrival at the lodge, situated on the left bank of the Madre de Dios river.
Welcome, explanation of the architecture and orientation of the lodge, built entirely by local indigenous people using axes and machetes and according to Iñapari, Mashco, Amaracair, Dipo and Ese-Eja customs.
After being shown to your cabin, lunch in the panoramic dining room. Time for a short siesta in our hammock area or comfortably installed in your cabin.
In the afternoon, a two-hour guided walk on the botanical trail beside the lodge, explanation of the exuberant flora and fauna.
Mid-afternoon excursion to Monkey Island where one can observe up to five species of monkeys: the howling monkey (Alonnatta seniculus), the white capuchin monkey (Cebus albifrons), the black capuchin monkey (Cebus apella), the maquisapa (Ateles paniscus) and the pichico
(Saguinus fuscicollis).
Night stroll along the riverbank to observe baby caimans (alligators) and other nocturnal animals. When the sky is clear, the stars of the Southern Hemisphere can be contemplated.

Day 2:
Buffet-style tropical breakfast in the dining room.
Set out in motor boat to observe the beautiful and sill virgin ravine Gamitana. Here can be seen birds, monkeys, lizards, turtle eggs in mating season (from April to November), among other species. Possibility of fishing the local way.
Lunch in the panoramic dining room. Time out for a nap.
Visit to an indigenous cultivation plot where one can observe the style of life of the local community and different kinds of Amazonian crops. Opportunity for tasting tropical fruits and edible plants such as sugar cane, yucca (cassava), bananas and cacao (chocolate). Return to the lodge at sunset, the ideal moment to take spectacular photos of the fusion of river and sky in soothing colors.

Day 3:
Buffet-style tropical breakfast in the dining room.
20-minute crossing by motor boat of the Madre de Dios to the right bank. An hour's walk through the tropical forest. During the 3 km stretch one can appreciate plants, trees, some Batrachia (toads and frogs) and reptiles, a variety of birds and throughout the whole walk, dancing multicolored butterflies. At the end of the path, setting off by rowboat to glide along a canal through the marsh to solitary, magnificent Lake SANDOVAL.
This lake offers extraordinary scenery of placid waters surrounded by palm, aguaje and other primary forest trees. During the journey one can observe the rich flora and fauna of the place: river otters, caimans (alligators) turtles and Amazonian birds with the hoatzin or "Shansho" (a prehistoric-looking bird, Opithocamus hoazin or stinkbird)), parrots, black skimmers and herons, among others. Possibility of swimming in the lake.
Return to Madre de Dios to board the motor boat. Brief trip to disembark and walk 5 minutes through the wet forest through plantings of cacao trees, coffee bushes and other plants to discover the famous boat Fitzcarrald, run aground many years ago and covered with vegetation. This boat was used in the past as an itinerate hospital to help indigenous communities. Return to the lodge by boat.
Return to the lodge and lunch in the dining room.

Day 4:
Buffet-style tropical breakfast in the dining room.
Set out to travel on the Madre de Dios river toward Palma Real to find the indigenous community of the Ese-Eja. Formerly nomadic warriors, they confronted the armies of Inca Yupanqui and the Spanish Viceroyalty. Decimated by caucho (rubber) gatherers at the beginning of the 20th century, they now lead a sedentary life dedicated to fishing, hunting and farming their plots of land. Visit to the village, the small school, chapel, houses and cultivated plots of land. Opportunity to participate in handcraft activities.
Cold picnic lunch on the boat.
Return by boat at sunset on the Madre de Dios.
Typical dinner of PACA (fish, chicken or meat prepared on a bamboo skewer and cooked over the coals, rice with cooked tomatoes and onions and a variety of exotic herbs and sauces) in the dining room. The PACA is prepared outside the main dining room in the style of the local people.
Day 5:
Buffet-style tropical breakfast in the dining room.
Return to the city of Puerto Maldonado.
Transfer to airport.
