RESERVA AMAZONICA is a private ecological reserve and research center on 10,000 hectares (24,710 acres) with more than 27 years promoting sustainable use of the Amazon Rainforest. Its spacious facilities and well-equipped private cabins assure guests an enjoyable, safe and comfortable stay.

Accommodations:
The lodge has 44 large, comfortable private cabins, with lovely views of the Madre de Dios river and the surrounding rainforest. Local materials were used to build them in the traditional architectural style of the native Machiguenga and Ese-Eja peoples. The cabins are on raised platforms, and have pitched roofs and large windows for optimal ventilation.
The reserve offers four types of accommodations:
Tambopata Suites: 78 mt² - 840 ft², excursions and meals included, 4
integrated areas, private terrace with a plunge pool, 2 sunbathing chairs and an
outside shower with a private service entrance. 1 king or 2 twin beds canopied
with mosquito netting. Open plan bathroom with double walk-in closet;
independent shower and toilet, hot water and a set of ecologically friendly
toiletry. Guests are accompanied from the airport to the lodge by a personal
escort.
Amazonica Suites: 60 mt² - 647 ft², excursions and meals included, 3
integrated area, 1 queen, 1 king, or 2 twin beds canopied with mosquito netting,
open plan bathroom with double walk-in closet, independent shower and toilet
double basins, hot water, ecologically friendly toiletry, a siesta lounge with 2
hammocks. Guests are accompanied from the airport to the lodge by a personal
escort.
Superior Rio: 38/36 mt² - 408/387 ft², excursions and meals included,
3 integrated area, view of the Madre de Dios River, 2 twin beds canopied with
mosquito netting, open plan bathroom with closets; an independent shower and
toilet, hot water, ecologically friendly toiletry, a siesta area with 2
hammocks, welcome at the airport.
Superior: 38 mt² - 408 ft², excursions and meals included, 3
integrated areas, 1 queen, 1 king or 2 twin beds canopied with mosquito netting,
open plan bathroom comes with closets, independent shower and toilet, hot water,
ecologically friendly toiletries, a siesta area with 2 hammocks, a welcome at
the airport.
Dining:
All meals are included in the lodging options. The meal plan consists of a tropical breakfast, lunch or box lunch (for excursions) and typical rainforest dinner. Typical dishes include the
"juane" (chicken with rice cooked in banana leaves), "ají de castaña" (Brazil nut purée) and
"paca" (fish or chicken cooked inside fresh bamboo stalks set in a circle around a bonfire). Vegetarian meals are available upon request. Bottled soft drinks are not included in the meal plan. As part of the meal plan, the hotel serves pitchers of refreshing drinks made with boiled water flavored with natural exotic local fruits. Bottled water and a large variety of cold bottled drinks are available from the bar at an additional charge.
Massage Hut
Enjoy a traditional massage deep in the Amazon jungle, while gazing out at
the wide Madre de Dios River and green Rolin Island, perhaps just as the sun is
setting in a blaze of color. The Massage Hut is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
and offers:

Passive stretching and applied pressure using fingers, hands, feet, elbows, or
knees along the energy lines of the body.

A short foot massage and relaxing foot bath, with a choice of Inkaterra's
fragrances.

The main lobby includes a circular mezzanine with balconies overlooking the Madre de Dios river and surrounding forest with hammocks and reading room, windows have metal screens with additional mosquito nets over them; there is electric lighting in the main pavilion and kerosene lamps in the cabins.

The Amazon shop offers a variety of local Amazon handicrafts, insect repellent, basic over-the-counter medicines, Inkaterra clothing (t-shirts, hats, baseball caps, jackets, etc), tote bags and other Inkaterra products.

Local guides and interpreters in English, French, and Italian (other languages upon request).

We provide rubber boots to use for walking on jungle trails (at no additional charge).

River transport by our little fleet of three motor-driven boats, each with a 30-person capacity; two small outboard boats
(peque-peques), each with a six-person capacity; and three rowboats.

Bus service between the river port and the airport, as well as for excursions in Puerto Maldonado.
Our lodge and reserve started 21 years ago with Ecotourism in this remote primary forest of Peru in an area which has an extremely rich fauna and flora: it is possible to observe more than 570 species of birds - nearly as many as in both USA and Canada.
Birds move up to canopy the top of huge trees, which sometimes reach 60 m. high. Registered species of birds seen on the Reserve include toucans, parrots, black face cotinga and cheerful rainforest birds; also many species of monkeys: the tiny titi-monkey, the howler monkey, etc.....
Batrachians - up to 64 species of anurans: frogs, a new specie discovered by inhabitants which is called:
Hyla koechlin, caimans and other
reptiles, butterflies...
Reserva Amazonica holds the world record number of ants species, as per Dr. Edward O. Wilson's (Harvard University) findings.

Recommendations
- Use biodegradable products, such as the INKATERRA products you will find in your bathroom.
- Recommended clothing for visiting RESERVA AMAZÓNICA, long slacks, long-sleeved, lightweight shirts of dark or dull colors, tennis shoes or hiking boots, baseball cap, sunglasses, and rain gear are recommended. Warmer clothing is recommended in case of abrupt weather changes locally called “friajes” (it might get down to 50°F).
- Camera or video camera with case for protection against humidity and rain, mosquito repellent, and binoculars.
- Visitors to the rainforest should be vaccinated against yellow fever.

Only 15 km. down river from the town of Puerto Maldonado, Capital of the Madre de Dios Department (45 minutes by dugout canoe with outboard motor) lies RESERVA AMAZONICA, which is also an ecological field research station. Daily jet flights from Lima (one and a half-hour approx.) and from Cusco (25 min.) take you to Puerto Maldonado.
