Travel Information


  • Recommended bookings have to be made at least 20 days in advance
  • Clients will not be granted train transportation if physical state or health is not compatible with the trip.
  • Weather conditions, strikes, natural disasters and/or mechanical failures, can cause delays and/or cancelation re-schedule itineraries. The operator has no obligation and is not responsible beyond the Operators control.
  • Passengers can only board the train showing the original train ticket or e-ticket and passports
  • Tickets are not refundable
  • Any cancelation made by passenger within 30 days before the journey, must be subject to a penalty of the total amount paid.
  • Passengers who don't send cancelation or don't check in the date of their journey must loose their tickets.

Passengers travelling Cuzco/MachuPicchu from January 2nd to April 30th 2015

Bimodal service: Vistadome and Expedition

As a part of safety policy for rainy season from January 2nd. to April 30th. 2015 we will operate under Bimodal system. Therefore, no trains will be running between Cusco and Sacred Valley. Poroy Station will be closed.

In order to bring comfort to passengers, Perurail has made the following changes in the route Cusco to MachuPicchu: Trains Vistadome 31, 203 and Expedition 33 will be running by bus from Wanchaq station (Cusco). The bus will take you to Pachar station. From there, trains will be following the normal route to Machu Picchu.

The same will also apply to the services from Machu Picchu to Cusco: Vistadome 32, 604 and Expedition 34. The transportation from Pachar to Wanchaq will be by bus.

 

Bimodal service: Hiram Bingham

As a part of safety policy for rainy season, Perurail will operate under Bimodal service (one part by bus and the other by train) from January 2nd. to April 30th. 2015.

Therefore, no trains will be running between Cusco and Sacred Valley. Poroy Station will be closed. In order to bring comfort to passengers, Perurail has made the following changes in the route Cusco to MachuPicchu: Hiram Bingham (Train 11) will be running by bus from Wanchaq station (Cusco). The bus will take you to Rio Sagrado Hotel (Sacred valley). From there, trains will be following the normal route to Machu Picchu.

The same will also apply to the services from Machu Picchu to Cusco: Hiram Bingham (Train 12) The transportation from Rio Sagrado hotel to Wanchaq will be by bus.

Cuzco Train Station (Route Poroy to Machu Picchu):
Address: Poroy Town (20 minutes away from Cuzco City).

Ollantaytambo Train Station (Route Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu):
Address: Ollantaytambo s/n Valle Sagrado. (1 hour away from Cuzco aprox.)

Cuzco Train Station (Route Cuzco to Puno):
Address: Av. Pachacutec s/n Distrito de Wanchaq

Puno Train Station:
Address: Av. La Torre N° 224

E-Tickets:
You have to be at the train station half an hour before departure, bring your passports and 2 copies of the e-tickets that we must send you (one is for the counter and the other one is your boarding pass) show your passports and board the train.

Note:
The transfer from Cuzco to Ollantaytambo station (Sacred Valley) is by yourself, you can arrange a taxi at your hotel, the price could be aprox: US$ 30.00. Sacred valley is one hour from Cuzco. For return from Sacred valley to Cuzco you can take a bus at the train station.

Baggage permitted in the Machu Picchu coach is maximum 5 Kg.
