Bajada de Reyes (Kings of Jerusalem entrance), in the town of Belen. Contests of different kind of dancers during the evenings, such as Tijeras, huaylillas and wiraqos.

January 6 - Ollantaytambo - Cusco
"Fiesta de Ollantaytambo"
(Ollantaytambo's Feast)
Ollantaytambo, Feast that celebrates the "Reyes Magos" (Magic Kings), religious processions, great folkloric dances.

January 18 - Lima
"Anniversary of Lima"
The city of Lima was founded January 18, 1535 by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro. In this date the anniversary is celebrated with diverse civic, cultural and artistic activities, as the "pasacalle", a great popular march, parade with dancers that represent diverse folkloric dances; music concerts and folkloric shows.

January 18 to 21 - Caraz - Callejón de Huaylas
Feast of "Virgen de Chiquinquirá"
(Virgin of Chiquinquirá). Religious feast, bull fights, great folkloric shows.

January 20 - San Sebastián - Cusco
"Fiesta de San Sebastián"
(San Sebastian's Feast), religious feast of the town's patron, great folkloric dances and invitation of food and fruit.

January - February - Trujillo
National Contest of "Marinera"
(Traditional Creole dance) Every year is renewed the popular fervor for this dance, expression of the Peruvian soul. This competition congregates thousands of couple dancers, from the infantile category until experts that arrive from whole Peru, and captures the attention in the whole country. It is usually carried out in the Great Coliseum Chimú, and with a duration of 3 days, from the classificatory phase until the great end. Organized by the "Club Libertad" of Trujillo.

February 02 Puno
Virgen de la Candelaria Feast, take place in the temples of Santa Clara and San Sebastian. Dances like huaynos, marinera and arrascas. Religious processions. Food and beverage festival. The image of the Virgin has a miracle character.

February 05 to 07 - Lima
"Conferencia Regional Andina de Eco Turismo". The Peruvian Association of Adventure Tourism & Ecotourism - APTAE has been designated as the host partner for this regional meeting, which will be taking place in Lima, from February 5th to 7th, 2002. Sessions to be covered will include: Planning in Protected Areas, Planning for Local Communities, Ecotourism as a Business Activity, Planning at the National Level and Ecotourism Policies at the International Level.
