WATER
Only drink bottled water.
CLOTHES
If you will go into the forest, take waterproof
clothes, of long sleeves, made of fresh and slight material such as cotton, and
do not forget a hat. Take several change of clothing, because you will probably
get wet by the rains.
STING OF INSECTS
Advisable the permanent use of repellent
to avoid the sting of insects, especially the mosquito.
VACCINE
Against
the yellow fever. In the International Airport "Jorge Chávez"
in Lima, there is a medical center in
which you can vaccinate before taking a flight to the forest. It is also
possible to be vaccinated to the arrival in the airports of Iquitos and Puerto Maldonado.
Depending on the time that you expect to be interned in the jungle, if this
will be for a long period of time, better consult with your doctor the
possibility to be vaccinated against hepatitis, typhoid, tetanus and an anti
malaria treatment.
GUIDES
Do not enter to the jungle without the company of
experienced guides.
PETS
Do not acquire, buy or accept in donation tame or
wild animals.
The Peruvian Foundation for the Conservation of Nature
(FPCN), recommends thath all visitors bear in mind the following:
- Avoid eye to eye contact with any animal, otherwise their normal habitat
could be disturbed.
- Never harass or change wildlife.
- When taking photographs try keep quiet.
- Refrain from shouting and making unnecessary noise when in wildlife
areas.
- It is important remember that Peruvian law for the Conservation of
Nature also forbirds the hunting, capture or commercialisation of any of the
species of wild animals found in the jungle regions, whether they be
mammals, bird or reptile. The only exception to this concerns those spices
traditionally consumed by the Amazonian populations, such as the Red Deer,
Sajino (Boar), etc.
- Litter should be disposed off properly.
- Observe any timetables pertaining to the use of vaious paths or
tracks.
- Respect the native populations and the natural environment in which they
live.
