The Great Pajatén
Is an archaeological pre-Inca
Center, recently discovered in 1963 by Carlos Torrealba. The citadel is located
on a plateau surrounded by a hill steep at 2,850 m above sea level, circular
constructions prepared in different levels, paved platforms, monoliths,
beautiful stony canvases built in slate flagstone, perrons made in flagstone,
decorations of geometric drawings on high relief. The whole archaeological group
is of great singularity and artistic sense that it is not concordant with other
expressions of well-known cultures in Perú.
