The towns in "Callejón de
Huaylas", outstands because of their wealthy Andean folklore, with
great variety in music and dances. The great celebrations generally are
associated to the religious feasts.
Most of the celebrations and religious feasts, use to take in processions by
the streets images of the patron saints or virgins, covering the streets with
rugs made of petals of flowers.

Cristi"

presentation of Dances in the Pallasca.
Mountaineering Week

Celebrated in Huaraz. Contest and
practice of adventure sports. Mountaineering, hikes, mountain biking, rafting,
deltaflying and paragliding, snow sports. Rock concerts, artistic and folkloric
shows.
Visits to archaeological sites. Allegoric parades. These celebrations
congregate dozens of thousands tourists Peruvians and foreigners.

Yungay. Patronal Feast, celebrating the anniversary
of the political creation of the city. Folkloric shows, crafts and commercial
fairs.
The ribbon race, is a ceremony that takes place in the
fields. Ribbons are tied to a tree having the names of all the single girls in
town, and have a little ring in its tip. The young guys ride horses to try to
pass a stick by the ring hole, and take the ring out. The one who does this is
supposed to get the love of the girl.
