We will start the tour driving to the south of Callejón de Huaylas, taking the turnoff of Cátac, we will do a first pause at the Querococha Lagoon, then crossing the Cahuish tunnel to reach the Conchucos area, to Chavín de Huántar.

Visit to the archaeological complex: the Major Plaza, the Circular Plaza, the Old Temple and New Temple, gallery labyrinths, and the famous "Lanzón Gallery", located at the very center, that contained a sculpture of the Lanzón, which is assumed to be a supreme deity of Chavín de Huántar. The figure is anthropomorphic, with a feline head and human body.

Scientists supposes that the religious significance of Chavín de Huántar is linked with the geography of the site. The confluence of two large rivers has religious significance in diferrent past cultures, and many investogations shows that Chavín de Huántar was an important religious ceremonial center. The confluence of two rivers is called tinkuy, which mean "the harmonious meeting of opposing forces". It has been suggested that Chavin de Huantar was considerated as a meeting place of the natural and cosmic forces.

Chavín de Huántar has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Part of the Chavín relics from the archaeological site are on display in the National Museum of Lima and at the National Museum of Chavín itself.
