Surrounded by forests, rivers and streams, the site has the distinction of being a biological bridge, to be located at the confluence of the Regional Conservation Area Cerro Escalera and the Cordillera Azul National Park. Also, along the Huallaga River ecosystems occur alternately three very different characteristics: the tropical dry forest, high mountain jungle and the lowland jungle of Amazon.

Excursions and tours can be made by land or by river, using different types of boat. The area has a great diversity of birds, butterflies and amphibians, which can be viewed along the lodge's pathways or on walks through the forest, to the waterfalls or  the native communities
