General Information & Facilities

General Information

Sol & Luna is located 1 km from the town of Urubamba in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a perfect place to start your visit to Peru. The Valley is a prime cultural and adventure destination in South America.

It is home to a number of important Inca ruins including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Maras and Moray and a convenient departure point for the fabled Machu Picchu, with trains leaving daily from nearby Urubamba and Ollantaytambo stations.

The Valley is at a lower elevation than Cusco, about an hour away by car, which makes for a gentler acclimatization to the altitude. The Valley has a mild climate within a dramatic setting of mountains, valleys and meadows, well-suited for outdoor activities such as horseback riding with Peruvian Paso Horses, mountain biking, rafting, paragliding, walking and trekking. All activities are offered by Sol & Luna´s Activity Center - Viento Sur.

Our hotel is enclosed in a red-walled courtyard surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and green mountains. We have 28 Bungalows: 23 doubles, 3 family bungalows and 2 suites.

We also have a full-size, hard surface outdoor tennis court, where you can play under the Andean sun. Our pool faces the restaurant and is surrounded by cypress trees and comfortable deck chairs, a perfect place to relax after a game of tennis, after sampling treats from the Restaurant or after a luxurious treatment in our Spa. Our Shop offers special souvenirs from the Sacred Valley, including local handmade arts and crafts and postcards.

Restaurant "Killa Wasi"

Our restaurant Killa Wasi (House of the Moon) features Novo Andino cusine, a distinctive blend of Andean, coastal and international flavors. Chef Nacho Selis Martinez who studied international, Creole and Andean cuisines in Lima, offers a diverse selection: camote (sweet potato), choclo (local corn), and fried yucca appetizers, alpaca, trout, chicken, kingfish and gallina entrees, quinoa, (Andean grain) and corn soups, tarwi (a local bean) and kingfish ceviches, as well as sandwiches and deserts. The chef’s Novo Andino specialties include Curry de Alpaca, sautéed slices of Alpaca in a coconut curry, accompanied by a “tacu tacu” of rice and green beans; Carpaccio of Shrimp with Kingfish, accompanied by a salad of cheese, vegetables and lake seaweed; and Trucha Sol y Luna, trout stuffed with shrimp, topped with white cream sauce and accompanied by sautéed spinach and artichoke hearts.

Ranch Wayra

Our Ranch features a large picnic - style seating area with benches, tables, and a brick oven, a wide expanse of green lawn edged with trees, and stables and corrals for the famous Peruvian Paso horses. We named the Ranch, Wayra or "wind" to honor this distinctive horse, whose unique “paso llano” gait makes it one of the smoothest riding horses in the world. The Ranch offers exciting horseback adventures all over the Sacred Valley and also hosts special cultural and culinary adventures such as Textile Demonstrations, Live Music, Cooking Demonstrations, Pizza Nights, Pachamanca, Barbecue, and Theater Presentations.

Spa Yacu Wasi

Yacu Wasi means "House of Water" in Quechua. Like the streams and lakes that nourish this Sacred Valley, the Spa is a place that nourishes the body and helps to bring it into harmony with the surroundings.
Yacu Wasi is located in the Sol & Luna garden, with a green lawn on one side and colorful flowers and trees on another.
The spa contains a fully-equipped gym, sauna, steamroom, Jacuzzi, and Spanish bath. We offer a wide selection of spa therapies: facials, wraps, masks, body-shaping treatments, along with newer treatments such as Music Therapy, Hydrotherapy and energy therapies such as Reiki. Massages include traditional Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy and Reflexology massages as well as Capillary massage and Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage. Classes or personal sessions in yoga and tai chi are also available. The Spa is a perfect place to relax after your adventures in the valley a place to enrich your body and mind, a place to let your consciousness expand, and a place to experience the age-old holistic energies of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

You can find us in Huincho, at 2 kilometers from the village of Urubamba on the way to Ollantaytambo.

Urubamba is located 57 km. from Cusco, on the flanks of the Cordillera Sur, where the Vilcanota River, called Wilka Mayu or Holy River, runs trough the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On the right side you can see the Cordillera del Vilcanota and on the left side the Cordillera del Vilcabamba.
