LAN Airlines Peru BOOKING CONDITIONS

The growth and consolidation of LAN AIRLINES is reflected in the highest standards of safety, punctuality and efficiency. LAN has been a member of oneworld, the global alliance that groups together the best international airlines, since 2000 and November 2007 marked 10 years since the company first began selling its shares on the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the first Latin American airline to trade ADRs in the United States and proving the seriousness, prestige and solvency of the company to the international financial community.

LAN´s history begins in 1929, when it first began as a state-owned corporation to provide air transportation services to passengers, cargo and mail.

After operating for 60 years as a state-owned company, in 1989 the Chilean government sold 51% of its share to national investors and to the Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS), the onset of the privatization process.

This process ended in 1994, when the current partners and company controllers jointly with other main shareholders acquired 98,7% of the company´s assets, including the state-owned portion. Since then, LAN began a definitive expansion and internalization process.

The year 2000, LAN became member of oneworld (TM), an alliance amongst leading Airlines worldwide establishing commercial bilateral agreements with American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, Qantas, Alaska Airlines, AeroMexico, Mexicana, TAM and Korean Air; allowing our customers to attain real global reach.

During the same year, LAN began its Airbus passenger fleet renovation program with 27 new airplanes.

In 2004, a corporate image change took place and the company became LAN Airlines S.A. Brand uniformity allows our customer to better identify high service and safety standards provided by LAN Airlines, LAN Express, LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador and LAN Argentina, including LAN Cargo and its affiliates. In november 2010, LAN also acquired the Colombian airline, AIRES.

LAN AIRLINES and its subsidiaries currently operate 118 passenger airplanes ( Airbus 340-300, Airbus 320-200 , Airbus 319, Airbus 318, Boeing 767-300 ER/ERF ) and LAN CARGO and its subsidiaries have 13 freight planes. These make up one of the most modern fleets in the world, are highly efficient and contribute to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, thus reflecting the company’s commitment to protecting the environment.

We structure our operations and maintenance prioritizing safety on all flights. Our maintenance facility is certified under FAA, JAA, DGAC and other civil aeronautics administrations, in addition, and our flight and maintenance procedures are certified under the ISO 9001-2000 quality standards.
